Shannon K. Miller

Celebration of Life services for Shannon K. Miller, 38, Lawrence, KS, will be held on Sunday February 16 ^th at the Museum of Kansas National Guard, 125 SE Airport Dr, Topeka, KS 66619 beginning at 3pm. Shannon passed way January 28, 2025, at her home from a malignancy of unknown primary origin.

Shannon K Miller was born on April 8, 1986, in Fort Scott, KS, the daughter of Max and Kadeen (Irwin) Miller. The impact of her life, an extraordinary testament to friendship and passion. She lived life to the fullest, reveling and often times rebelling through everything which dared stand in her way. Even when set upon the impossible hurdle of her greatest foe, she fought fiercely and in yearning. Despite all of the tragedy set before her she remained happy, hopeful, and brave. Carrying the unfathomable burden of our sorrows with gleeful heart as she walked alongside us granting us peace through our struggles. A generous soul, a sharp mind, and a fire within which often consumed those whom it touched.

She lived her life much like a flickering candle holding back the darkness of a stormy night. Burning brightly against the odds, willing to consume herself to grant others the warmth and revelations needed to carry on. Her radiance burned so brightly, that it could only through its own fragile intensity burn too quickly.

Shannon was the embodiment of self-expression and acceptance, moving by the beat of her own drum. Shannon had unique style and loved expressing herself through dying her hair and wearing unmatched converse shoes. Enjoying an abundance of hobbies from various video games, anime, and magic the gathering. Watching sports with family and friends, quality cigars, good beer, and celebrating our own unique holidays. Whether she was celebrating Fryday Saturdays, Snyxster, Palacemas, or more significantly Palacemas in July she had tremendous joy in living life on her own terms.

As a child Shannon worked at the Prescott Kansas library, where she developed a love for mythology and heroics while dodging wasps valiantly. Shannon attended Jayhawk Linn high school where she excelled in athletics and graduated valedictorian of her class. Shannon went on to further her education attending Fort Scott Community college. Furthering her work experience at PDQ gas station/diner where she would discover her love of red bull energy drinks. It is here where she would come to meet the love of her life John Findley, with whom she would become inseparable. After graduating from FSCC she would go on to attend the University of Kansas focusing on a degree in history and education. Furthering her work experience through a career with Wal-Mart where she would go on to make such a remarkable impact on the lives of so many people.

She left this world peacefully beside family and friends. Shannon is survived by a myriad of family, friends, and beastly companions. Husband, John Findley, father, Max L. Miller Jr.(Sandra Sadowski), mother, Kadeen (Irwin) Miller, brothers, Shawn (Gretchen) Miller, and Chris Miller, Mother-in-law Glenda Findley, Sister-in-law Jenny Knippa (Erik) and Denise Needham (Seth), pets, Ali, Meatball, and Durgy.

Shannon was preceded in death by her grandparents Max Sr. and Wilma Miller, Carl and Reba Irwin, Father-in-law Dennis Findley.

The family suggests memorials in Shannon’s name to Children’s Miracle Network and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary 120 W. 13th St. Lawrence, KS  66044.
