Shirley Lawellin

Funeral services for Shirley Rose Lawellin,75, Lawrence will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Eudora United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Hesper Cemetery, Eudora, KS.  Shirley died June 12, 2011 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, KS.

Shirley was born on January 29, 1936 in Eudora, KS the daughter of Chester and Clara (Votaw) Baecker.

She was a homemaker, devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was an avid KU basketball fan.

She was a member of the Eudora Methodist Church.

Shirley married Gary D. Lawellin on February 14, 1952 in Olathe, KS.  He survives of the home.

Other survivors include four daughters, Debra Bost, and husband, Floyd, Lawrence, KS, Janet Lawellin-Erwin, and husband, Joe, Eudora, KS, Joyce Shontz and her partner, Danita, Lawrence, KS, Laura McGaw, and husband, Sean, Lawrence, KS; one sister, Katherine Woodson, Perry, KS; eight grandchildren, Megan Bland, Cody Bost, Krystal Wiggins, David Erwin, Lydia Shontz, Jessica Long, Robert Long, Kristen McGaw; five great grandchildren, Jack Bland, Alyssa Hunt-Bost, Rylen, Elizabeth Erwin, and Josiah Long.  She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruby, Wanda, and Phyllis.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Warren-McElwain Mortuary Eudora Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Lawrence Humane Society and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
