Stanley G. Brown

Memorial Mass for Stanley G. Brown, 73, Lawrence will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He passed away Monday, May 15, 2017 at his home.

Stanley was born December 28, 1943 in Topeka, KS the son of William F. “Kise” and Mary Evelyn (Ice) Brown.

He attended the University of Kansas and played the trumpet in the KU Band and then attended Emporia State for a year.

He worked in a grocery store as a teenager, 20 years for All-Star Dairy, then was a maintenance supervisor for KU student housing for 20 years until he retired in 2009. For the last six years, he worked part-time as a delivery driver for Sigler Pharmacy.

He married Felicia Vorhies June 6, 1970 at St. John’s in Lawrence. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his daughter, Sandy Wagner and husband, Mike, Pittsburg, KS; granddaughter, Michaela, Pittsburg; sister, Mary Frances Riner and husband, Michael; brother, Rich Brown, both of Lawrence; four nieces; one nephew; two great nieces; one great nephew; and one great-great niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, and younger brother, Eddie Brown.

A Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 20th at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence followed by a Native American Blessing and then the family will greet friends and family until 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, his request was for memorial contributions to be made in his name to the Citizen Potawatomi Nation Eagle Aviary and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
