Steven Matthew Caffey

Memorial services for Steven Matthew Caffey, 41, of Lawrence, will be held 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. The family will greet friends following the service until 4:00 p.m. Steven died January 22, 2016 at his home in Lawrence.

He was born September 17, 1974 in LaGrange, Illinois the son of Charles and Ruth (Kinder) Caffey.

He worked as a Mechanic for a number of years. He was an avid sports fan, especially for the Chicago Bulls and the Chicago Bears and had a passion for cars.

He is survived by his mother, Ruth of Lawrence, his son, Charles Caffey of Ottawa, KS; his siblings, Charles Eugene Caffey of Tennessee, Don Caffey of Minnesota, Jeffrey Caffey of Kansas, Rochelle Caffey of Illinois, Yvette Caffey of Illinois, Geneva Austin of Illinois and Jodi Caffey-Tolbert of Virginia and many other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles, his daughter, JaNea, brothers, Larry and Darren and other nieces and nephews.

The family suggest memorials in his name to Steven M. Caffey Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
