Susan Ann Edwards, 90, of Lawrence, Kansas, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026. A private graveside inurnment will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Susan was born on March 7, 1936, in Oahu, Hawaii, to Col. George Prazak, M.D., and Thelma (Dougherty) Prazak. As the daughter of a military family, she spent her childhood living in numerous states and countries. She graduated from high school in Kyoto, Japan, during the occupation following World War II. Susan was especially proud of her father’s service commanding the 109th Evacuation Hospital and his receipt of the Bronze Star Medal and Legion of Merit. He was always her hero.

Although she lived around the world, Susan always considered herself a Texas girl. In the 1950s, she was crowned Sun Princess of El Paso, Texas. She later attended the University of Colorado, where she was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority, a legacy proudly shared with both her daughter and granddaughter.

On June 27, 1958, Susan married Malcolm Edwards at Martha Mary Chapel in Sturbridge, Massachusetts. Together they raised three children—Mark, Kimberly, and Anne—and settled in Lawrence, Kansas, in the 1970s, where they built a life centered on family, friendship, and community.

Susan was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was deeply involved in her children’s school activities and generously gave her time to her family and community. She was an active member of P.E.O., the LMH Hospital Auxiliary, and several bridge groups. Later, she proudly worked as the administrative assistant in her son’s periodontal practice.

Her grandchildren were truly her pride and joy. Whether playing fantasy football with her grandsons, shopping at Nordstrom with her granddaughters, planning family trips to San Antonio, Texas, or hosting countless holiday gatherings, Susan treasured every opportunity to be together. She shared a special connection with each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those who knew Susan will remember her for her grace, elegance, and impeccable taste. She appreciated life’s finer things and made sure her family did as well. She gave the best advice and told the best stories. She was proud of the professions her children and grandchildren chose, with much of the credit owed to her encouragement and support. Above all, she was treasured by her family and many friends throughout her life.

Susan is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Malcolm; her children, Mark (Gretchen) Edwards, Kimberly (Thomas) Wolfe, and Anne Edwards; her grandchildren, Jessica (Bobby) Lutz, Jake (Brisa) Wolfe, Macey (Brandon) Wachal, Trent (Allie) Edwards, Jensen Edwards, and Nick Edwards; seven great-grandchildren, Jack, Emma, William, Alivia, Myla, Sienna, and Eleanor; and her loving cousin, Ellen Akerhaugen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr George and Thelma Prazak, and her sister, Barbara Ellen Prazak.

Susan’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Lawrence Presbyterian Manor for the exceptional care they provided.

The family asks that you honor Susan’s memory by spending time with those you love. Share a meal, tell stories, laugh together, and cherish life’s simple moments—just as she always did.

She will forever be missed as our Sue, Mom, Gram, and GG.
