In Loving Memory of Tashina R. Case

Tashina R. Case, cherished wife, devoted mother, daughter, aunt, and sister passed away, on June 14, 2026, at the age of 43.

Born on September 15, 1982 to Justin and Vicki Downer, Tashina grew up in Garden City, Kansas. She met her husband, Michael Case, in Garden City and they quickly began building a life together. They left SW Kansas to move to Lawrence, Kansas with very little money in their pockets, but were filled with the vision of creating a home full of love, laughter, and joy. They knew whatever challenges they would face, they would do it together. Michael and Tashina were married on June 25, 2004, in Shawnee, Kansas.

Joining Tashina and Michael in their marriage were their sons, Peyton and Jaylon. Tashina’s world revolved around her boys, and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for them. Tashina poured her heart into teaching the boys to be respectful young men and to love well. Tashina nurtured and provided for Michael and the boys in whatever way possible. Whether cheering them on in all their activities rain or shine, planning week-long birthday celebrations, cooking their favorite foods, or hunting for their favorite brand of shoes, Tashina’s love for her family was evident in everything she did. She lovingly cared for her dogs, always keeping treats and toys close at hand. Her beloved Bentley was especially spoiled with homemade meals, many games of fetch, taking “dips” and endless affection.

Tashina had a rare ability to make everyone feel seen and loved. She was fiercely loyal and protective of those she loved. She stood beside family and friends through life’s joys and challenges. Tashina loved making memories with Mike, Peyton, and Jaylon, whether through travels, outings, spontaneous adventures, or simply enjoying life’s everyday moments together. Her infectious laughter, generous spirit, and vibrant energy breathed life and joy into everyone around her. Tashina loved the home she and Michael built together. She spent much time researching modern design; but it wasn’t the perfect design style, décor, or furniture that made it a home, it was Tashina. Their shop, swimming pool, and beautiful outdoor space were her favorite parts of their home because she loved to entertain family and friends. Even though both boys are grown and living on their own, their parents’ home was still the place they wanted to be in their spare time.

Though her time here on this earth was far too short, Tashina leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and loyalty. Her impact on the lives of those she loved will never be forgotten. The memories she created, the love she shared, and the strength she demonstrated will continue to live in the hearts of her family and friends.

Tashina is survived by her husband, Michael Case; sons, Peyton Case and Jaylon Case; mother, Vicki Downer; siblings, Rashawn (Bill) Slinkard and Jace Downer; maternal grandparents, Sondra (Everett) Simmons, paternal grandparents, Keith (Candy) Downer; her Uncle Duane Simmons; Uncle Arlan Downer, Aunt Roxanna Marker father-in-law, Jimmy Case; mother-in-law Debra Case; sister-in-law, Amy (Ed) Lenherr, and Stacey (Cory) Brown; nieces & nephews, Jace Downer Jr., Kyra Downer, Lexi Downer, Grant Lenherr, Evan Lenherr, Easton Brown, Nolan Brown, and canine companion, Bentley Case.
