Terry Dodd

Services for Terry Dodd, 68 of Eudora, Kansas will be privately held and at a later date. Terry passed away peacefully at Promise Hospital of Overland Park on Friday, January 12, 2018.

Terry was born March 4, 1949 to Jerry Dodd and Betty Terry in St. Louis, Missouri. After graduation he joined the Army and served his country in the Vietnam War.

He married Susan Ferguson on July 14, 1990. She survives the home. Terry is also survived by five sons, Robert (Paula) Evans, Daniel (Kristie) Evans, Shannon (Tracy) Evans, Todd (Rae) Evans, and Kurt Dodd; daughters, Krystal (Brian) Dodd and Jeni Dodd; sister, Petie (Tim) Freitag; brother, Bruce (Nina) Hight; and 14 beloved grandchildren.

Terry spent his life as a machinist, working for various companies and he enjoyed what he did, however, he had many other passions and they were centered on family, nature, and kindness. He loved being outdoors, whether he was hunting or riding on a motorcycle, he enjoyed the open spaces. Terry was the most devoted KU basketball fan, through the good years and the bad, he loved cheering on the Hawks. Terry refurbished his ’53 Ford pickup truck (Jayhawk blue, of course) and it was his love, but no love compared to his “Susan Kay”, who he adored for 26 years of marriage. Terry valued things, the important things, like family and treating others with kindness and the upmost respect. Terry was a loyal and true husband, a best friend, a devoted and loving father, and treasured grandfather. He will be missed by his family and friends dearly.

Memorial contributions can be made in Terry’s name to the Lawrence Humane Society and sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
