Mass of Christian Burial for Thomas “Tom” R. Pyle, 92, Eudora, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 10, 2021 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Eudora. Burial will follow at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery. Tom passed away Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Medicalodges Eudora.
Tom was born July 16, 1929 in Kansas City, KS, the son of Richard and Cecilia (Lacy) Pyle.
He was the owner and operator of Pyle Meat Company since 1959. He closed the store when he retired.
He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church; Financial Parish Council; Eudora Council, Knights of Columbus, Lion’s Club, Past Director of Meat Processor Association, served on the Board of Visiting Nurses. Was a past Director of KMPA, National Director of Meat Processor, President of Little League, and was a previous Mayor of Eudora.
He married Alberta Schopper on December 30, 1950 in Eudora, KS. She preceded him in death on June 21, 2020.
Other survivors include his three daughters, Rose (Dave) House, Bernadette (Roger) Fulks, Roberta (Dirk) Lehmann, all of Eudora; four sons, Joseph (Andrea) Pyle, Eudora, Edward (Mary) Pyle, Lenexa, KS, Patrick (Sandy) Pyle, Olathe, KS, Thomas “Tommy” Pyle, Eudora; 34 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Robert Pyle, William “Bill” Pyle, Jack Pyle, Jim Pyle and Edward Pyle; and four sisters, Marie Rodina, Catherine Alango, Rita O’Malley, and Bernadette Kostelac.
A Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. on Thursday, December 9, 2021 with a visitation to follow until 7 p.m. at Warren-McElwain Mortuary – Eudora Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Old Holy Family Catholic Church Restoration or to St. Theresa’s Society and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
