Graveside services for Troy Brantley, 71, of DeSoto, Kansas will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at DeSoto Cemetery in DeSoto, Kansas. Mr. Brantley died Thursday, October 21, 2010 at his home in DeSoto.
He was born September 18, 1939 in Athens, Tennessee, the son of George Hastings and Ovia Belle (Miller) Brantley.
He was raised in Athens, where he attended public schools and later received a B.S. degree in Business from Tennessee Wesleyan College.
He moved to Kansas City in 1964, where he met his wife, Louise Cardin. They were married April 3, 1965 in Kansas City, Kansas.
He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a switchman, conductor, and yard engineer for 30 years. He retired in 2002.
Survivors include his wife, Louise, one son, George Marlon Brantley and his wife, Kelly; all of DeSoto; three brothers; Dewey Brantley and Onis Brantley of Athens, Tennessee; Emerson Brantley of Charleston, Tennessee; one sister, Unis Hughes of Kennesaw, Georgia; six grandchildren, Nathanial, Timothy and Jeremy Brantley, Kristy, Brandon and Travis Davis.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary – Eudora Chapel.
