Waletta Joy Medlock

Memorial services for Waletta Joy Medlock, 63, Lawrence, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2020 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lawrence. Private family burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Waletta passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2020 at her home.

Waletta was the definition of a free spirit; independent, strong, and willful. She was a courageous and beautiful soul who loved her son, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, her sisters, and all her friends with a ferocity not beholden to mortality. Waletta’s love will transverse time and space – she will always be here right next to us. She would want us to celebrate her life and to smile, not to mourn her. We are at peace knowing that she is caring for her grandson, Ezra, in heaven.

Survivors include her son, Dylan (Danielle) Medlock, granddaughter, Zelda Medlock; sisters; Kay Rose, Kimberly Miller, and Rita Higgins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bud Thomas Medlock and Mary Jean Medlock; grandson, Ezra Thomas Medlock.
