A celebration of life for Warren S. Lane will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Meadowlark Estates, 4430 Bauer Farm Drive in Lawrence.

Warren died on Friday, December 3, 2021, at The University of Kansas Hospital. He was 69 years of age.

Born August 30, 1952, to Theodore (Ted) and Betty (Frederich) Lane, he spoke fondly of his childhood years in Muncie, Kansas, on missions with his brothers and the other neighborhood kids, exploring the creek and hunting for treasure.

In 1967, the family moved to Lawrence and Warren graduated from Lawrence High School in 1970. He studied drama, art, language, and literature at the University of Kansas, ultimately earning a bachelor’s degree in journalism in 1990.

Warren built a career as a graphic artist for several corporate entities in the Kansas City area. Over a 30-year career, he designed for insurance, medical, and instructional industries. Warren was also an accomplished illustrator, his creations ensuring a legacy of optimism and imagination.

With medical challenges rarely at bay, Warren lived his best life. Illness was met with resolve and never with complaint. His memory lives on with equal fortitude.

Warren was preceded in death by his father, Ted and a brother, Rusty. Survivors include: his mother, Betty; a brother, Jerry; beloved extended family; and all his many friends along the way.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Diabetes Association, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
