William Maberry

d. February 1, 2018

William Thomas Maberry passed away February 1, 2018 at the age of 65 in Lawrence of complications from illness.

Bill was born September 10, 1952 in Kansas City, MO to Raymond and Sara (House) Maberry. He spent his childhood growing up in Kansas City, before moving in his teen years to DeSoto, KS, with his family. Shortly after arriving in Kansas, Bill felt the need to join the war effort that was ongoing in Vietnam.

After enlisting in the United States Army at the young age of 17, Bill endured a tour of duty in Vietnam, where he served as a Radio and Switchboard Communications Operator and transferred into an Infantry Crewman. After a two-year stint overseas, Bill returned to Kansas where, after a few years, he and Lori would fall in love. Bill and Lori married on April 25, 1977 and began their family shortly thereafter.

Fishing, bingo and poker with friends and family were some of the leisurely activities that Bill loved to do. He was always accepting of everyone and would welcome them into their home with open arms.

Bill is survived by his wife, Lori (Place); three daughters: Sara, Amanda and Nicole (David) Day, and two sons: Billy and Roger. Bill is also survived by six grandchildren: Dominic, Miranda, Seth, Jerome, Aden and Kaylin.
