William V. Cox, 82, of Lawrence, previously of Des Moines, Iowa and Forsyth, Missouri passed away Monday, February 24, 2020, at his home. There are no services scheduled at this time, but inurnment will take place in the Spring at Center Grove Cemetery in Cambridge, Iowa.
William was born on September 1, 1937, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Clifford and Ella (Hopper) Cox.
He was an Army Veteran and a Master Mason with the Masonic Lodge.
He married Ruby Helen Gill on October 19, 1958 in Stingler, Oklahoma and she preceded him in death on December 18, 2019. He was also preceded in death by his parents and infant grandson, Tyler Wade Blythe.
Survivors include his children; Linda Watson, Tracey Boswell and husband Burton, Stephen V. Cox, three granddaughters; Heather Watson, Chelsea Salvo and husband Chris, Barbara Boswell, two great-granddaughters; Adeline Rae Salvo, Lillian June Salvo, brother, Donald J. Cox and wife Cynthia, niece, Courtney Smith and nephew, Creighton Cox.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13 th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
