Win Gilkey Jordan

July 20, 1951 — September 6, 2025

Win Gilkey Jordan, 74, of Lawrence, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital from complications of cancer and a long-term battle with various illnesses.

Born July 20, 1951, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Don Armstrong and Louie Mae Gilkey Jordan.

Win met the love of his life, Marsha Jeter, in 2001 while living in Hays, Kansas. They were married on September 22, 2001 in Stillwell, Kansas. Their lives were filled with the small moments that bring real meaning to a life: visiting with family, ministering to friends, sunsets on the deck holding hands, stargazing, and thousands of conversations filled with love.

Win’s family was the center of his world, and nothing brought him greater joy. Though he loved playing games, reading, and serving in his church, Win’s favorite role was that of a parent and grandparent. He treasured time with his family, never failing to include them in a game or a laugh.

  • Children: Kendra Forgey (George), Christopher Jeter (Tia), Kimberly Campbell (Joseph), Nathan Jordan (Tracey), Tait Jeter (Lynzee), Aaron Jordan (Kat), Jocelyn Bangerter (Jon), Adam Jordan (Brianne), Sasha Jordan, and Julia Jordan.
  • Grandchildren: Isaac Madron (Katie), Eliana Madron, Keaton Bangerter, Gabrielle Madron, Kyah Bangerter, Ezekiel Madron, Jace Roeller, Raleigh Jeter, Kash Jordan, Koen Bangerter, Orin Campbell, Jacob Jordan, Kanarah Bangerter, Zoey Camp, Hoyt Jeter, William Jeter, Ailie Campbell, Roxie Jordan, Ethan Jordan, Hailey Jeter, Klairiah Bangerter, Kaymus Bangerter, Lucas Jordan, Oaklee Howard, and Knox Bangerter.
  • Great-granddaughter: Evangeline Madron.
  • Brother: Rogers Jordan (Paula).
  • As well as many nieces and nephews.

Win was passionate about learning, and this was demonstrated through his formal education, with an undergraduate in Journalism, a Master’s in Engineering, and a Doctorate in Managerial Accounting and Information Systems. It was further proven across the variety of occupations he pursued, including: working with his father remodeling homes at a young age, writing environmental reports, and managing operations for the West Coast of GCA Corporation. After completing the ROTC program he moved into the Air Force Reserves and Army National Guard, where he completed his service with the rank of Major. He believed that freedom has never been free and greatly appreciated those men and women who have repeatedly paid the price of maintaining liberty for their fellow men. He ended his career as a professor of Managerial Accounting at FHSU, where he was able to share that love of learning.

An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Win served in a variety of callings from Missionary in Argentina to Nursery Teacher to Bishopric Counselor, to Primary Teacher, and other various callings. Win loved devoting his time and energy toward sharing the light and joy of the gospel. One of his greatest joys was ministering to those around him. Win had a great love for his Savior, Jesus Christ, and said of Him, “I think of Him gathering each of us into His arms, holding us tightly to His bosom, and comforting us, easing the pain and bringing peace. Oh, how I love Him!”

Win will always be remembered for his bright smile, twinkling eye, and witty humor. He was quick to embrace those around him with an open heart. His family couldn’t have asked for a better spouse, parent, grandparent, sibling, brother, and uncle. We will miss Win every day and his memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.

A private family viewing and graveside service was held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 to celebrate Win’s life. He was laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence, Kansas.

In place of a memorial, please consider becoming an organ donor. Our lives have been forever impacted by the gift of time from the anonymous donor who saved Win’s life. We are profoundly grateful. Many heartfelt thanks to the numerous medical doctors, nurses, and staff who have cared for Win over the past 20+years, especially the transplant team at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

“Pause to help and lift another, finding strength beyond my own. In the quiet heart is hidden sorrow that the eye can’t see. Who am I to judge another? I would be my brother’s keeper; I would learn the healer’s art. To the wounded and the weary I would show a gentle heart. Savior, may I love my brother as I know thou lovest me. Find in thee my strength, my beacon, for thy servant I would be.” ~ Excerpts from the hymn, Lord, I Would Follow Thee
