Wynona Sloat

Funeral for Wynona Sloat, 59, Lawrence will be held Tuesday at Absentee Shawnee Burial Grounds in Little Axes, Oklahoma.  Ms. Sloat died November 12, 2010 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Arrangements are being handled by Cooper Funeral Home 210 West Walnut Tecumseh, Oklahoma 74873.

She was born on September 20, 1951 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma the daughter of Frank and Mattie Mary Johnson Sloat.

She graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Anthropology.  She later worked as a cashier for Checker’s Grocery Store.

Survivors include one sister, Shirley Sloat, Lawrence, one brother, Jimmy Johnson, Harrah, Oklahoma; one niece, Amanda Jackson; two great nieces, Mary-Ann and Cheyenne Jackson and one great nephew, Christopher Anthony Jackson.  She preceded in death by two brothers, Hardin and Donald Sloat.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Wynona Sloat Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
